I am fortunately or unfortunately one of those people who haven't quite let go of their BlackBerry love just as yet... Which essentially means I am on and off compromising on the more fun features an Iphone tends to offer... The only app so far on an iphone which gets me envious enough to actually want to switch is 'Instagram' I am just absolutely in LURVE with the retro picture effects and would am dying to generate original images for my blog using the app. If you're like me then here is the Semi Solution:
1. PIXLR
I cannot express enough how much I LOVE this website. Well to start with, you can use this service either on the web or download it to your computer... I did both! The effects are all current and hugely creative. You can spend hours working with your pictures...
2. BE FUNKY
Be Funky doesn't have as many effects to offer as PIXLR but I guess it qualifies as my second most favourite given its trusty and stable. More options are available for effects borders etc but for a premium... the interface like PIXLR is fairly simple and doable for anyone.
3. PICASA
Picasa by Google is fairly boring but stable... while it doesn't have an array of effects, it does have some basic functionality that can help you edit your photos better... Cropping, Creating Collages, Fixing Colours to name a basic few. I do use Picasa fairly frequently but normally only for very basic editing.
4. INSTANT RETRO
The one thing trying to experience Intant Retro taught me was to not judge a book by it's cover! When I saw the web interface I fell in lurveee. Seemed quite simple and exciting. I guess the fact that in atleast 5 tries, I still don't have a picture to show goes to show the website may not be so exciting after all. It kept getting timed out, giving errors etc... Will try attempting again, but for now... Really not recommended.
