Blog Envy: Ps I Made This...

Every week or so I come across a fabulous blog idea that I can't help but envy!! There are such amazing, out of this world bloggers occupying the cyberspace... what can lil' ol me say or do except feature them in this new section...
-----
One of the first ever blogs that I started following was Ps: I Made This... Erica Domesek is nothing short of a genius in my mind. Not only is her blog fabulous... the DIY ideas shared are always stunning and easily doable. I have to admit I don't have a DIY bone in my body hence my following is limited to the RSS feed and extreme envy that follows each time she posts, but I do highly recommend checking her blog out whether you're into crafting or not!

Blog Tips: Retro Effect for your Pictures

I am fortunately or unfortunately one of those people who haven't quite let go of their BlackBerry love just as yet... Which essentially means I am on and off compromising on the more fun features an Iphone tends to offer... The only app so far on an iphone which gets me envious enough to actually want to switch is 'Instagram' I am just absolutely in LURVE with the retro picture effects and would am dying to generate original images for my blog using the app. If you're like me then here is the Semi Solution:

ORIGINAL IMAGE
1. PIXLR

RETRO USING PIXLR
I cannot express enough how much I LOVE this website. Well to start with, you can use this service either on the web or download it to your computer... I did both! The effects are all current and hugely creative. You can spend hours working with your pictures...

Recipe: Simple Finger Food

So, it was Baby Daddy's Birthday last week!! Woohoo... While normally we invite all our friends over, this year we kept it a little too small... essentially, any of our friends who has asked to drop in, we just gave them a time to swing by so we could manage it all with minimum effort - yes, I've become that lazy!!

I've hounded the internet for recipes for some finger food, yes true to my usual habit I googled 'SIMPLE finger food' and following is what I decided...

1. Black Bean and Goat Cheese Dip

2. Cheese Platter

The 'Somewhat' Daily Diary - Whats on the Idiot Box

So, I've never really been a TV Buff... Always had a show or two that I follow and I stick to them, but earlier in my First Trimester, when I got bed bound I had no choice but to turn to the Idiot Box. As a result, I was updated on pretty much any series that is of any consequence out there... While those TV watching days are behind me, I did start watching not 1 not 2 but THREE new Television Series just last month and so far all three seem fairly promising...

In order of preference, here they are:

1. X Factor

I love Simon Cowell I really do! And I think American Idol this year was one of the most disappointing Seasons ever... I was therefore really looking forward to X factor USA and it doesn't disappoint! 6 Episodes down, I'm really looking forward to what the show has in store...

2. Revenge

Emily Thorne, whose real name is Amanda Clarke, moves back to the Hamptons to take revenge on the people who caused the death of her father David and destroyed her family. When she was a little girl, Amanda's father was arrested on terrorism charges and tried for treason; and her life was destroyed. She ended up in juvenile detention and inherited the wealth of her father on her 18th birthday. She changed her name to Emily Thorne and decides to take revenge on the people responsible. (wikipedia)

3. Ringer

Twin sisters Bridget and Siobhan (both played by Gellar) have been estranged for the last six years and find that their lives are both unraveling at the same time. Bridget, a recovering addict and ex-stripper, is on the run from the mob after witnessing a murder. She flees to her twin sister Siobhan's home. The sisters seem to be repairing their broken relationship until Siobhan mysteriously disappears overboard during a boat trip the sisters take together. Bridget soon discovers her sister's seemingly perfect life is full of secrets after she is attacked in Siobhan's future apartment. (wikipedia)

Inspiring Spaces: Fall Outdoors

While for most of the world, Fall means beginning of the 'indoors' Season, we in Pakistan who have suffered from a 45 degrees (plus) Summer, it is the time to step out, sit in the sun and enjoy the delicious warm sunlight...

NOTE: I started following blogs pretty much around the same time I started toying with the idea of creating a blog... It was then I started collecting images of inspiring interiors I saw on blogs for nothing else but keeping a record and using them as inspiration for someday when I'd make my own house *sigh* Unfortunately, till now since there were for my personal consumption, I hadn't filed the sources... and therefore initially in this post series, I will not be able to quote sources :((

If you see any image that you feel should not be displayed, please email me. In the meantime, the future images I collect will reflect sources to the best of my ability.

Happy Weekend :))

Not my usual cheery 'Happy Weekend' Picture... My sincerest apologies. But in the spirit of honesty being the best policy I have to confess, I'm just not feeling it these days... I love my blog, I love reaching out to all of you and have you all reach back to me... But I'm in a bit of a downward spiral here... Sigh. I think I'm being too hard on myself... I keep trying to figure out how to increase traffic, get more comments, get more followers, make sure the posts are up on time... And in the midst of all that, it's becoming a chore rather than something I absolutely love! I do need to step back a bit and post what I love, and love what I post... Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever fallen in the expectation trap?

Have a lovely weekend!!

Fashion Feature: A tale of a Blue-tiful Evening.

Elie Saab Couture FW 2011-12
Elie Saab, in my opinion doesn't make couture, he weaves magic and dreams... Shot to over night success after Halle Berry wore his creation on her Oscar winning night many a years ago, there has been no looking back for this gentleman. Each one of his creation awes me every time... Each one of the gown tells a story. It is not surprising that when I saw this beautiful gown he designed for his FW 2011 - 12 Couture Line, I could see the enchanting evening it would be worn to...

I soared upon the starry skies
I sang of angels lullibies
I saw the light of silver dreams
And waded deep in diamond streams.

I dreamed a dream of endless time
Where golden moons forever shine
I breathed within loves purity
The day you gave your heart to me.

Blog Tips: Sourcing Images for your Blog

{via}
My biggest struggle when I started blogging was with finding quality images for my blog... Google Image Search normally ends up yielding pretty basic images, nothing even close to what I wanted to have... it was then I discovered the following sites which I highly recommend for image sourcing...

1. Pinterest 2. Tumblr 3. Vi.usalize.us 4. Ffffound 5. Polyvore 6. We Heart It 7. Flikr

I know most of my bloggy friends are well acquainted with these sources but I just had to share them given this gorgeous poster I found on Link with Love and if you happened to be a random newbie who happened to stumble by my blog :))

PS: if you have an image an no source, a slim chance for finding one is www.tineye.com which helps you reverse search your images xx
