KIDS BORN IN THE 80’s: BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES

September 4, 2021

If you’re one of the kids born in the 80’s (or more like from the 80’s), growing up was such a different experience as compares to today’s generation. Because back in the day, kids born the 80’s had the simplest of joys while making memories. Let’s take school for example. It was the best time of my life, hands down. And if I had a way, I’d rewind and live it again.

Nowadays when it comes to school supplies, you have this huge list of things to fill your bag packs with, but for the kids in the 80’s it was easy as getting a metal lunch box to the big four color pens!

So here are 14 retro school supplies that kids born in the 80’s would remember using and getting nostalgic about!

And if you’re a kid from the 80’s you’d remember these things also.

KIDS BORN IN THE 80's 1

The Sweet Valley High series was a guilty pleasure for kids born in the 80’s – the best of pop culture in my tweens that would create a generation of readers who were engrossed in the adventures of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield.

KIDS BORN IN THE 80's

This pencil box set kept me afloat in my 3rd and 4rth year at school, I just couldn’t part with it. Having one of these fancy babies meant I was one of the popular girls in school as it passed on from the 80’s to the 90’s.

The colored shoelace trend was one of the stylish and fashionable things that defined the 80’s for me. Sneakers were in, therefore colored shoelaces was a big fat fashion explosion in assorted bright solid colors (even neon).

Archie Comics revolutionized every decade including fashion that came with it, thanks to the gang, Archie, Veronica, Betty and Jughead. Plus it was great with the story arc, the love triangle and so relevant for all ages.

Colored strapped watches to show off what my dad got for me from America.

These vintage school supplies make me want to be a kid again with our favourite cartoon characters like the Disney Princess, Seasme  “Street. And not to forget the weirdest taste of the drinks had when you drank it out of your lunchbox thermos.

These Velcro wallets pretty much summed up my financial situation for my lunch money.

Having the most coolest collection of stencils for Math and Art, and to draw on the first page of every notebook.

Not to forget the most iconic character, Fido Dido for 7-Up! He rocked my world so we used to draw him in Art class.

Showing off my coolest eraser collection.

When you were prohibited to never ever touch the center of a floppy disk for the Computer class.

My Library Card that kept a check on me and # of books I was supposed to read, and FINE me for not returning one on time.

Cute Stickers for my notebooks and to gift my friends on their birthdays.

The big four color pen had a counter part and pop-a-point pencils were one of the most retro school supplies that we had.
