Madonna, founder of the Ray of Light Foundation, said, “60 percent of the children in the world NOT in school, are girls! 2/3 of the world’s illiterate are WOMEN! I Do NOT accept this. We need to change this and we WILL CHANGE THIS!”
At ‘The Sound of Change Live’ concert, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy wore a Misha Lakhani creation paired with a
custom-designed bag by Mahgul for Nasreen Shaikh (love it), minimally accessorized her look with dangling earrings and sealed the deal with red statement lips.

“Madonna: As you all know I am very passionate about Education. Particularly Girls’ education! What happens when we educate Girls? We Empower Them! In many places women of all ages are risking their lives to make sure that other girls are given a chance to learn to read and write… There are some exceptionally brave warriors who are fighting this injustice and the world needs to know who they are. I want to start by introducing 2 of them. They have both given a voice to the young women of Pakistan! The first is Humaira Bachal – She started teaching when she was 15 in a 3 room makeshift school. She now teaches over 1200 students in the same rooms. I think she deserves a bigger school, don’t you ?

The second is Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy – journalist and a documentary filmmaker. She has been risking her life to tell stories that need to be told. She makes films that would shock and dismay, enlighten and inspire. Sharmeen has made a film about Humaira and the trailblazing work she is doing. If you don’t think one person can make a difference, watch this film.
I keep telling people that I want to start a Revolution. But my Revolution has nothing to do with Bloodshed or Violence. My Revolution starts with Education. I invite you all to join my Revolution of Love. You can start by Visiting the Chime For Change Facebook page right now. Let’s help Humaira build a bigger school in Pakistan. The Revolution of Love starts here. The Revolution is On! Are you With Me??”

Personally, I couldn’t be more proud of the places our Desi girl is going. As a friend recently commented, who would have thought a Pakistani woman would be taking the Microphone from Madonna… She is indeed an awesome ambassador for everything Pakistani. However, on a completely side and irrelevant note, I think the Jacket Misha designed for Sharmeen does her no favours, especially the sleeves aaargh!

Guys, Sharmeen is so elegant, understated and effortless puhlease don’t complicate her clothes.
