Dobara aired its second episode tonight and it is safe to say that it is shaping up to a very promising show that will have ample doses of drama and entertainment.
So in last night’s episode of Dobara, Sehar’s visits Afaan’s home with her mother to offer their condolences. From the get go, we can tell that the mother-daughter duo is selfish, and conniving and Sehar’s sole reason to be with Afaan is his money. This can also be seen by their reactions when they learn that Afaan’s father, Hidayatullah, has left all of his property for his wife, Mehrunnisa. They wonder how come he didn’t leave anything in his children’s name.This also irks Hidayatullah’s sister.
Mahir’s mother learns that he stole from her husband. He ends up misbehaving with her which is why she slaps him and sends him away. His friend, Narmeen, who loves him, wants him to find a job so they can get married, but Mahir remains non-serious when it comes to everything.
Mehrunnisa remembers her past and how Hidayatullah controlled everything she did. He made her give up all her likes and hobbies and made her dress according to him.
Mehrunnisa’s kids want her to talk to them about their father but all she has are bitter memories. Afaan asks her what was the first gift his father gave her. She says he gifted her an expensive necklace but in return, took away her innocence and her youth. She had to grow up unwillingly too quickly.
Mehrunnisa asks her son-in-law, Zameer, to watch over the family’s business while she completes her iddat and her son completes his studies. Hidayatullah’s sister intervenes by saying she can take care of it all but Mehrunnisa doesn’t pay any attention to her.
Unable to achieve anything worthwhile in life, Mahir also fails as a tennis coach and is unable to teach a kid how to throw a decent strike even after 20 days.
Sehar calls Afaan at the end of the day to ask about his mom. She asks him about who will look after the business until their semester comes to an end. When he tells her abouZameer, she says be careful because it doesn’t take long for people to change when they see money and property ahead of them.
Mahir has another argument with his father’s second wife about he is a burden on them. As a result, she locks the fridge so Mahir can’t eat or drink anything from it in the morning.
The episode did a great job of introducing to our main and supporting characters. Bilal Abbas Khan remained the highlight of the episode while Sabeen Syed was great in what she was given.
