A graduate of AIFD, Zaheer Abbas made his debut in 2010 and has since been lauded as one of the most promising designers in recent times. His LSA win in ‘The Best Emerging Talent’ segment sealed the deal for this talented young man. We are super excited to feature him on SiddySays for the first time ever and get his low down on what he is bringing to the Fashion Pakistan Week Autumn Winter 2014.
What is your design philosophy?
My design philosophy has always been “simplicity”. The best designs in the world are based on purpose and function.
What are the key trends this season?
Sheer, layering, high contrast, ethnic revivals.
What is your inspiration for your presentation this season?
My inspiration comes from a taboo; fashion or being fashionable is still associated with “fahashi” in Pakistan as of showing skin. I am working on a collection, which seems nude and at the same time its not. It focuses on nude color and then takes you on a journey on how sometimes you can get away with linings/slips or design it in a way that it gives a totally new meaning to the design.
What should we expect to see at your show this season?
A lot of drapes mixed with textures and immaculate tailoring and how same old naqshi & sitaray can be used in a modern way.
Which designer are you most excited to see (other than your own brand)?
Maheen Khan & Iman Ahmed
What are you doing immediately after the fashion week?
I might be flying to Manchester for a show.
