The highly anticipated Ishq e Laa kicked off tonight with it’s first episode with an interesting start as we expected it to be. From Sajal reciting a few verses from the Holy Quran, to the magnanimous legend, Nadeem Baig (as Prof. Rehman) delving into the subject of love and spiritual love, Ishq e Laa introduced us to some of the main characters tonight.
We must admit that it was truly exciting to see Sajal Aly and Yumna Zaidi together, with each leading lady emulating two strong roles that seem poles apart, but invigorating in their own spirit. Sajal’s passion and Yumna’s intensity to deal with emotions and real-life situations is commendable as both these ladies were effortless in their portrayal. So, we’re excited to see their journeys unfold in Ishq e Laa.
Azaan Sami Khan is debuting with his acting career in Ishq e Laa and is playing the lead. Having excelled in his musical career, we’re hoping that his character Azlaan gets good reviews as well.
SAJAL ALY AS SHANAYA
Sajal is portraying Shanaya is a bold and independent TV anchor who runs her own show that is based on real life issues that are prevalent in our society. She hails from a upper class family with a strong footing. So far, her character is of a strong woman who is not afraid to speak the truth and takes on everything without faltering.
AZAAN SAMI KHAN AS AZLAAN
Azaan is playing Azlaan, who has grown into a young and wise business man after returning from the USA. From the conversation between his parents, Azlaan and Shanaya are friends. So we’ll probably be seeing their families get together over having good relationships and a possible (existing) love interest between these two as the teasers suggest.
YUMNA ZAIDI AS AZKA
Yumna is essaying Azka who has just given her final exams and dreams to enroll in a good medical college. However, her poor background is a hindrance in the way of her dreams. But this is not all that Azka has to worry about. Her bhabhi, Kanwal’s cousin-brother Abid, played by our favourite Gulzar from Ehd-e-Wafa, is interested in her so he harasses her everyday, which perturbs her. But due to her bhabhi, she and her mother Khatija, played by Simi Raheel, stay mum to avoid chaos.
Ishq e Laa features some integral characters who will be backing up the story.
Simi Raheel as Khatija: A protective mother to Azka, who will stand in the way of anything, including her daughter in law to see Azka have a good life.
Sohail Sameer as Sultan: Azka’s older brother who also works as a chef at Azlaan’s family home. He is rather a meek character, but a simple man who doesn’t say much when it comes to his wife’s outrageous and demeaning behviour with his mother and sister.
Uzma Hassan as Kanwal: She is Sultan’s wife, who is blunt and rude and will opt for desperate measures if push comes to shove, and emotional blackmailing in order to get her way. So far, she wants marry Azka to Abid in spite of knowing his philandering ways.
Usman Peerzada: Is playing Azlaan’s father and seems like a supportive parent.
Adnan Samad Khan as Abid: Our favorite Gulzar is playing a villainous role who is interested in Azka but due to his dalliances, he isn’t a favourite.
The 1st episode of Ishq e Laa has earned some raving reactions from the general public and everyone’s looking forward to see the leads come into play with feelings of love, loss, betrayal and the journey towards the divine.
