If you follow fashion in Lahore, or are one to regularly indulge in retail therapy, chances are you have been to the Rubaaiyat store at Gulberg Galleria in Lahore. Mini Bindra and her husband Deepindar opened this store ladden with Indian fashion ranging from casual to bridals earlier this year at Lahore’s premiere shopping destination. No strangers to the world of fashion, Mini started her label 14 years ago in her home town Delhi, her husband in addition to being into menswear also owns the franchise to the PFDC store in Delhi where they promote and sell Pakistani fashion.
We were recently invited by the Bindras to have a closer look at Rubaaiyat’s latest bridal collection which was presented at the Bridal Couture Week held in Lahore. For this collection, Mini took the brand back to it’s roots and celebrated the Rubaaiyat’s of Omar Khayam that have inspired the Rubaaiyat’s very eastern and romantic aesthetic for years now. The new wedding season stock is now available at the store and ranges between 70, 000 – 150, 000 PKR. Speaking about her experience in Lahore, Mini said ‘Lahore has given me an amazing response. People appreciate the traditional, old school craft here… The sacha gota and intricate thread work is especially popular’.
Mini is taking customized orders also for formals and bridals and you could book a consultation with her on her next visit. Minimum lead time for orders is 8 weeks which is pretty decent for bridals. The Rubaaiyat bridals start at PKE 200, 000.
