For the sixth year running Fashion International brought together emerging talent and established designers for a runway show at the The Charing Cross Hotel in London.
The ballroom was jam packed with the likes of fashionistas, buyers, bloggers, journalists and photographers. Seven designers, all from different countries displayed their Autumn/ Winter 2016 collections. The highlight of the show however, was a Pakistani designer Omar Mansoor.
Omar’s collection was an ode to Marchesa Casati, an Italian patron of the arts, who is famously known to have said ‘I want to be a living work of art’.
Omar clothes did justice to Marchesa Casati’s life in every way. With a palette boasting neutrals and metallics, Omar’s clothes stood out from the rest. In paying tribute to Maheen Khan, Omar used Koya Silks, a type of hand woven fabric prepared by the craftsmen of Banaras Colony.
Omar’s collection comprised of gowns, dresses and jackets, all made using a velvet and a variety of silks. The gowns made a clear statement: daring but classy. Omar stayed true to his design philosophy with clean cuts and both symmetrical and asymmetrical silhouettes with the result that his collection made a bold statement about the modern woman: confident, classy and bold.
We absolutely loved the gowns for their colours, chic silhouettes and clean finish. We also loved the cropped gold jacket, which can be worn day or night and can bring life to any outfit.
Coming from a family whose business is centered in textiles, it is no wonder that Omar decided to become a designer. Over the past few years Omar has carved out a name for himself in local fashion scene in London and his outfits have been worn by the likes of Sophie Anderton, Susanna Reid and Amy Guy! Here’s hoping we see Omar at Fashion Weeks in Pakistan.
