6 POST-BABY ISSUES MARRIED COUPLES FACE

February 15, 2022

Post-baby issues married couples face? Say that again?!

Because, even though, getting to know your baby is a life-altering experience, it can also have a traumatic effect on married couples. Growing from 2 to 3 is a change that is unavoidable because more often then not, neither do we tackle parenting as a team, and nor do we recognize the changes in our partners when it comes to post-baby issues married couples face.

It’s okay if you’re expecting and you don’t know how to do everything. Anyone can learn if they want to.

By the way there are ways where couples can maintain the calm and keep their marriage in a healthy pace. So let’s talk about 6 post-baby issues married couples face.

This might help: a list of power-packed foods to aid in your baby’s growth.

#1: POST-PARTUM EFFECTS

First of all, it’s very important to recognize post-partum depression because it effects the couple and their relationship. The mood swings, the constant anxiety and guilt is unbearable and both the partners suffer and many couples sadly survive this stage and strain of withdrawal. The change from a couple to a family of three, or possibly more, can be one of the biggest transformations you face when you become a parent and need to be sensitively dealt with.

#2: DOMESTIC DUTIES & BICKERING

Couples often take time to perform their duties, especially mothers and it’s natural because you have an infant to take care off. So whether it’s the laundry, or the dishes, these household duties take a backseat and that’s when the other partner says “what are you doing?”

The nagging honestly has tot stop as well as the tension. Divide your duties and responsibilities on a weekly basis. This way both the partners will know what and when to do.

#3: YOUR PARENTING STYLES

Couples often end feeling resentful towards each other because both men and women naturally (and most of the times) have different parenting styles from their partner.

#4: YOUR ALONE TIME IS BASICALLY FAMILY TIME

You’re always together, but no longer alone. First of all, you need to schedule time together, even it’s very briefly like going to the Doctor’s appointment together. And secondly, allow for solo time for yourselves. Don’t look at time away from your family as a bad thing. Look at it as a blessing because you’re returning refreshed and happy to your baby.

#5: BEING INTIMATE

Sex becomes a distant memory when you have a baby to take care off. You have to wait for a couple of weeks after giving birth, and then once you know can do it, thanks to the kind Doctor, you don’t really feel like you’re ready to get to the “normal”. And you can blame the mood swings, the exhaustion, stress, sore nipples etc – it could probably take months!

#6: EXPENSES

Money truly does become a huge stressing point for new parents because one of the major concerns that people have is that they freak out when they know that they don’t have enough to raise a family. So that’s when you start making choices like a smaller house, a close by school, less trips, not going out a lot etc. What was once considered leisure becomes a luxury for new parents.
