After the embarrassing moment between Mahira Khan and Javed Sheikh at the 10th Annual Lux Style Awards 2018 and the ridiculous theories and controversy that erupted later on social media, we’re reiterating the fact that celebrities and hosts are human just like us when they embarrass themselves in front of the cameras. Either it’s a speech, or a cordial move that went wrong, wardrobe malfunction, falls or a good old foot in the mouth, here are some of the embarrassing yet memorable (oops) moments for us at least.
HUMPTY DUMPTY’S GREAT FALL
Jennifer Lawrence is not only one great actress; she’s fantastic, humble and an active supporter for social issues as well, AND WE LOVE HER. But she’s also one celebrity famous for her bloopers, embarrassing moments, clumsiness and the jokes she makes at her own expense. So we relate to her. And then one day, we were in the front seat when she went up to stage to accept the award for Best Actress at the 2013 Oscars, she tripped over her gown! What happened next? She laughed it off, it was great. And the next year, while attending the ceremony, she tripped over an orange traffic cone on the red carpet! And that’s Jennifer Lawrence. The Queen of the great fall!
THE INSENSITIVE JOKE AT THE HUM AWARDS
“Itna khoobsurat child molester, kaash mein bhi bacha hota” (what a beautiful child molester, if only I was also a child). For us, probably this was the lowest point in any one’s career who’d made a joke out of a supremely sensitive issue. When Ahsan Khan won an award for the villainous role in Udaari, this is what Yasir Hussain had to say. Naturally this was one of the cringe-worthy moments for all those who witnessed this debacle and later social media. Humph!
THEY WON BEST PICTURE BUT THEY ACTUALLY DIDN’T
The cast took the stage, there was excitement and congratulatory notes in the air and speeches were given, and then the historic chaos ensued. Warren Beatty announced La La Land as the winners for the Best Picture when in fact it was MOONLIGHT that was the real winner. Imagine the embarrassment of the team of La La Land who had to step down and hand the award back. The film fraternity and the world were shocked and in disbelief as to what had happened. Warren Beatty later explained that he had been handed the wrong envelope.
WHEN THE WRONG MISS UNIVERSE WAS ANNOUNCED
Miss Colombia rejoined in her victory for over 2 minutes when Steve Harvey stepped in and said, MY MISTAKE. He had announced the wrong Miss Universe and it was actually Miss Philippines. The teary-eyed Miss Colombia had to take off her crown and give it to the Miss Philippines.
