Thursday evening saw a crowd of frenzied people, from the crème de la crème to politicians, actors, artists, and journalists, descend upon the Gulberg Galleria to see the store opening of Miaco Carpets. It was a successful event showcasing beautiful handmade carpets. A wide variety of carpets were presented along with a live display showing the carpet weaving process.
For the first time in Pakistan, one can opt for custom made carpets at affordable rates without any compromise on the quality. Being a different initiative, whereby the choice of design, size and colour is left entirely to the customer, it is bound to attract the public’s attention and definitely something to watch out for.
Miaco Carpets is also the only carpet manufacturer to introduce the concept of Art Rugs in the local market. They work in collaboration with internationally acclaimed artists and to create unique pieces of art in the form of handmade rugs. In addition to this, they have won many international awards for carpet design.
The grandson of legendary filmmaker Nazir and K.Asif of Mughal-e-Azam, Asif Nazir Khan, is heading this project with his wife, Ayesha – the creative head of the company. Major Cooki, renowned in the carpet industry with a background of over 40 years, is the Chairman.
