5 EASY TIPS ON HOW YOU CAN DETECT HIDDEN CAMERAS

December 27, 2019

Hidden cameras have become a huge threat to privacy and are popping up at the most unexpected places. The need to watch what people are doing and document their lives have been a horrific past time for people who need clinical help. From low-scale hotels to cinemas, videos and images have been live-streamed for entertainment.

Just so you know, hidden cameras can be anywhere in the AirBnB if you check-in on your travels, the changing rooms of the gym, in try rooms and every other place possible.

The only means to stay secure is to know how to detect these. Thankfully there are quite a few measures you can google online to spot a hidden camera.

USE HIDDEN CAMERA FINDING APPS

There are several apps like Fint (for iPhone and Android) and Glint Finder (for android users) that can be installed and used to detect hidden cameras.

USE YOUR SMARTPHONE CAMERA

The handiest way to detect a hidden camera is via your smartphone camera. Check it first by holding a TV remote directed to its camera and pushing a button. If you see a light on the screen upon pressing a button you are good to go. Turn on the camera and scan the room especially the ceiling, smoke detectors, and decoration pieces. If you see a light coming from these there is probably a camera inside. This is because these cameras emit infrared rays that are not visible to the naked eye but can be seen on camera.

TURN OFF THE LIGHTS TO SPOT NIGHT VISION CAMERAS

Another way to detect night vision hidden cameras is to turn off lights and look for any blinking lights or LEDs. If you see any it’s a camera spying on you.

USE A FLASH LIGHT

Any hidden cameras are placed behind a two-way mirror. A two-way mirror is like a window on the opposite side, unlike a one-way mirror. To detect such mirrors turn off lights and press the flashlight of your phone against the mirror. If it is a two-way mirror you will be able to see the room on the other side of the mirror.

SCAN YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Being vigilant is a given for staying safe. Lookout and scan for any odd decorations, lights, wires that lead nowhere, check smoke detectors, centerpieces, and hooks. Hidden cameras can be built into most expected things like books, wall hangings, tissue boxes, and stuffed toys to name a few.

PURCHASE A CAMERA DETECTOR

While most low-end cameras can be detected using the above-mentioned techniques some high tech cameras are impossible to be detected this way. For this, you will need to purchase a camera detector. If you are a frequent traveler, or often use changing and try rooms you should consider investing in your safety. You can easily purchase these over Amazon or in the Camera Market Nisbat Road Lahore.

If you find a hidden camera avoid touching it, take a few pictures as proof, and report it.
